MADELEINE MITCHELL violin
ANDREW BALL piano
Madeleine Mitchell has performed as a soloist and chamber
musician in over 40 countries. The programme includes beautiful works for
violin and piano which the artists recently recorded, by Ravel and Frank
Bridge, Faure's Sonata No 1 in A Op13, Prokofiev's Cinq Mélodies,
and Schubert's Ave Maria.

Extra Concert! - SUZUKI TEA CONCERT
Children aged four to 14, piano pupils of Jenny Macmillan and cello and double
bass pupils of her daughter Pippa Macmillan, will give a concert of music
ranging from folk songs through baroque minuets to classical sonatas. Many of
these children have performed at major venues such as the Purcell Room in
London and Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

CAMBRIDGE TAVERNER
CHOIR
Britten's Ceremony of Carols, a joyous collection of expressive medieval
carols set to evocative music and accompanied by harp, forms the centrepiece of
this concert. In addition, the choir performs some of the best-loved British
carols of the twentieth century, including Ord's Adam Lay Ybounden,
Howells' A Spotless Rose, and Vaughan-Williams' This is the Truth
from Above. The Cambridge Taverner Choir emerged from the Oxford and
Cambridge choral tradition and has built a reputation for powerful and
expressive performances.

SASHA GRYNYUK piano
In 2007 Sasha Grynyuk won the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition and his
appearance here is one of the concert prizes he was awarded. Trained at the
Academy of Ukraine he made an early concert debut, is now based in London and
has played in many venues there including the Wigmore Hall. He plays a varied
and virtuoso programme, which includes Chopin's Sonata in B minor and
Schumann's Faschingschwank aus Wien.

AQUARELLE GUITAR QUARTET
One of the most original and active guitar ensembles in the
UK, the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet is dedicated to presenting works from around
the globe with a particular focus in the music of Latin America.
The programme will include works by Rossini, Albeniz,
Gismonti and the Brazilian composer Assad.
...the ability to unite as one in presenting
phrases makes this quartet a special phenomenon.

A welcome return from a quartet who were First Prize winners
of the 2008 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan and whose
reputation and career has gone from strength to strength since they were last
here in 2006.

The acclaimed Haydn Chamber Orchestra from London return to
Linton, for a programme of orchestral favourites. They are joined by the
Narcissus Duo for Mozart's stunning concerto for flute and harp, whilst
Schubert's lively Italian Overture, and Beethoven's great 7th symphony round
off an unmissable concert.
